The feeling of that burning sensation on my chest is often times unbearable. Either I would have to lie down for a couple of hours for the pain to subside or I take a pain reliever that does not help much. I consulted with a doctor and he told me that the acid indigestion I experience, most commonly known as heartburn, is actually an effect of my smoking. It made sense actually since every time I smoke with an empty stomach, I experience afterward that kind of acid discomfort that leads to heartburn. The doctor warned me of the harmful effects of smoking and ordered me to stop. Since he understood that for smokers like myself, quitting most of the time has to be gradual. For my heartburn, he prescribed tramadol, which I found out to be an effective medicine for my heartburn. I take tramadol 50mg every time I have a heartburn attack and I accompany the medication by drinking lots of water. The pain and discomfort would be gone in less than an hour. My tramadol medication gave me that relief I did not have before when I was taking other kinds of antacids or pain killers. I thought at that time that my heartburn was a precedence to a grave stomach and chest illness that should be cured asap. Apparently, the pain won’t subside because I was taking the wrong or impotent medication instead of taking tramadol. I know that quitting smoking will more likely put a stop to my heartburn attacks.
